Sight, Sound & Scent

Like all animals, humans are wired to appreciate the world around them through their five senses, sight, hearing (sound), smell (scent), taste, and of course touch. In sexual relations, the sense of touch is the predominant sense that is utilized. Through kissing, licking and sucking, our sense of taste is utilized as well. Taste can also be heightened through the introduction of flavored oils, lubricants and food in lovemaking.

For some couples, the sense of sight is under-utilized, due to constraints of personality or preference. In SexSkits, sight plays an all important role, especially when the use of costumes, accessories, props and general setting priciples are put into play. In the Lighting section, we talked about the importance of proper lighting to establish the mood and setting of your particular SexSkit scene. SexSkit participants should be encouraged to pursue proper ligting techniques that have been included with the script, and to fully appreciate the visual delight that you and your partner have created for your intimate SexSkit affair.

A sometimes equally under-utilized sense is that of hearing (sound). Some couples, maybe due to children or other concerns, make love in relative silence, thus depriving themselves and each other of the auditory delights of coitus. SexSkits usually employ some sort of sound effect, whether it be soft music, the sounds of water, or a crackling fire, to fill the void of silence, to set the proper mood and tne for the SexSkit, and to encourage the participants to relax and surrender to their inner passions. Intimate, sexual relations were never intended to be undertaken in silence. It is strongly recommended that proper sound effects be employed in the execution of your SexSkit to set and enhance both the mood and setting of your intimate encounter, and to entice both participants to surrender to the moment with each other. Soft music of a genre that fits the overall theme of the SexSkit is generally the mechanism to fill the void of silence and achieve this goal.

In the Costume Development section, participants are encouraged to bathe, use deodorant and perfumes / colognes to complete their adopted personna for the SexSkit. Additionally, scents can be employed subtly in the setting environment, through the use of scented candles, room sprays, potpourri, incense, fresh flowers, or simply freshly laundered sheets and towels. During the execution of your sexSkit, you are encouraged to not only breathe in the perfumed and natural scents of your lover, but also those scents purposefully employed through the use of external substances to properly set both the mood and setting / scene for your SexSkit. Smell is a more powerful sense than most of us give credit, and can usually trigger memories even years later. Our brains associate smells with past events, both good and bad. Just imagine your surprise years later when a familiar scent from your night of SexSkit induced passion triggers that memory at a far away place and time!
